UHFMagazine - 2008-05 - May 2008: the demise of www.stage6.com, and on the weakness of the infrastructure of our society

At the end of this month the UHFMagazine will be again online, after a four months absence, mainly linked to a re-organization of all the material that was published on Stage6 (travel notes, pictures, movies, etc).

The main issue to report on in the February issue, the telecommunication link cut in Egypt, was over by February 20th, and the set publishing date was February 27th.

Suddenly first rumors, then an official posting online on February 25th announced the demise of the original "home" of these Hamster-based rummaging.

Yes, Stage6 closed down. Why? Beside the usual conspiracy theories, the only information disclosed was more like a rosary of excuses than a motivation.

Probably the experiment in obtaining visibility for DivX had reached its course, or the experiment was draining too many resources and the initiator left the company, DCMA was becoming too cumbersome: your pick.

Therefore, the focus of this double issue can be better described as foci:

1. social networks fabric
2. the infrastructure of our society

Because our complex society is kept together by both us humans and shared resources, of which infrastructure (roads, bridges, telecom lines) is the visible part.
