A cultural wanderer is something more that a tourist and something less than a cultural anthropologist.
A cultural wanderer tries to know something about the places and the people and their history before going there.
We travel but try to embed, without losing our identity.
If you travel with your eyes open and your mind willing to understand how the locals see the world, then you are a cultural wanderer.
Trying to understand other cultures does not imply adopting their lifestyle.
It is way too easy to exhort everybody else to adopt a simpler lifestyle, while ignoring that, if you were able to afford a three hour lunch, probably the people serving you would be unable to afford your own lifestyle.
So, do not assume that if somebody else is doing things in a different way, (s)he is wrong or right by definition.
Enjoy the experience, and maybe find everywhere you go something that you could re-introduce in your own everyday life- instead of trying to convert everybody to your worldview in your one week visit to their country.
