These guidelines are a manifesto of what we will deliver to you and our "publishing ethos"

This website has no age-access restriction.

Why?

Because creativity does not require an ID Card.

And this calls for some unfortunate limitations.

As all the material will be checked by an Editor before being published, it can be safely assumed that no adult material will be published.

If articles discussing adult material (e.g. content, production, distribution) will be posted for publication, it will anyway be reviewed and "parked"- if we will see enough request, a dedicated editor will be assigned to the task, and users requesting access to the relevant sections will be requested to confirm their age.

I believe that this will allow a balance between freedom of expression and choice.

Unfortunately, most people have an online habit of lying about age, sex, and other social classification parameters- please be frank when asked a question, as anyway we will limit question to the bare minimum to allow/deny access to the material published online.

Before being consultants, we are consumers- and we too are members/invited to way too many communities, so that it becomes time consuming just to check what's going on- or delete all the unwanted notification messages.

As consumers, we all hate:
  1. cold calls from marketeers- here you will only see "polls" to allow you to freeely choose if or not to partecipate and answer (no popups)

  2. spam- e-mail messages will be generally person-to-person or admin-to-person; public announces will be generally posted inside the community, and only if the service will become unavailable for reasons beyond the administrators' control you will be notified via e-mail
  3. "deluge" notification messages- notification services for messages received, news items, material update or publication will be obviously available inside the community; eventually, we may or may not add a profiling system to allow you to choose to which "updates" to subscribe via e-mail, so that you will need to enter the community only when something relevant to you happens
If you have any suggestion, just use the "contacts" link.

Some new community features will be added soon but, this beeing a free service, each feature will be assessed to avoid having redundant services (you have forums everywhere, don't you?) or bandwidth overload (you can post high-quality videos somewhere else and high-quality pictures on www.flickr.com, while you can have six-degree-of-separation for business on http://www.linkedin.com and for personal purposes on http://www.facebook.com or http://www.frype.com).

CWCommunity.org will not host multimedia material, other than the one produced by its staff (myself included), mainly to reduce the copyright-management hassle and be able to rebutt any DCMA request immediately.

If you want to reuse the material, please follow the guidelines explained in the Community FAQ "re-use it for free!"

A last word: if you see a link on this website, it is because it is relevant to what is the content of the article you are reading (hopefully, also the advertisements- that anyway are clearly marked to avoid misleading our readers).

The only "plugging" the link to companies or communities belonging to our network, and to our company at the bottom of this page.

So, if you see links or named companies or products, is usually as part of (potentially negative) review :-)

Be an active member, and bring people interested inside the community.

And if you are publishing elsewhere, and are interested in re-using this policy, do it (possibly without modification), and just add a link to your site stating "policy from www.cwcommunity.org" or "policy inspired by www.cwcommunity.org", as a hyperlink: http://www.cwcommunity.org- if Socrates and Aristoteles and Plato had had our current copyright setup, they would never have published :-)

And I refuse to refer to a shared policy: it is lawyer's stuff, and each buddying "Lord of the Flies" keeps updating and upgrading to answer to the others- so, no GPL or Creative Commons or others here: just common sense :D
